Eid-ul-Fitr:

Eid ul Fitr is seen as a unique festival as it is not linked with any historical event or changes in seasons. It is a festival that celebrates the end of a month of fasting and an opportunity to forgive, be joyful and share happiness with friends and family. Eid ul Fitr is celebrated over a three day holiday period.

Historically celebrations of Eid ul Fitr begin once the crescent moon has bee sighted. Celebrations include buying new clothes, gifts and sweets. Eid Prayer ceremonies are held at local mosques where Muslims will go to thank Allah for all that they have. After the prayers, family and friends will gather at their homes by spreading love and happiness. Many people will exchange greeting cards by wishing Eid Mubarak which translated means Happy Eid.

This year Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on the sunset of Tuesday 30 August
